RFR Starts the Season Out Quick
4-9-22: The Midwest race season started out like it does every year with the annual “Icebreaker 100” at Dells Raceway Park. After a long off season the 80 gang was ready to go to work, showing speed right away in practice.
By the time qualifying came around confidence in the car was high. When the first round of qualifying of the season was over, it was Ryan and the team going out for fast time honors.
Another strong showing in the qualifying race landed Ryan in a solid starting spot for the 100 lapper. Unfortunately some tire troubles on a restart set the team back an insurmountable 6 laps. Ryan held on to get all the positions possible, concluding an otherwise fun and hopeful opener. Big congrats to former RFR crew member Jordan Devoy on his win in the main event!
2020 Season comes to an end at DRP with a 4th place finish!
10-25-20: The 80 team headed out to Dells Raceway Park for the final race of the year in the Falloween 150. We had a 3 point lead in the season long Alive for 5 series over Casey Johnson going into the race. It was a very chilly day, but the car came out of the trailer with speed, ending up 2nd in the first practice. As we moved into qualifying, Ryan put the car in 7th into the show. The 5 car qualified 3rd, so that put us 1 point behind going into the race. Ryan started 3rd in the feature and was riding around in 3rd behind Dalton Zehr and Ty Majeski for most of the first half of the race. After the 75 lap break, Casey passed us for 3rd and we rode 4th behind him. With 6 to go the caution came out and we took the high side of Casey, but he got away on the restart. We came home to finish a solid 3, but lost the championship by 3 pts.
Although not the final result we wanted, we had a great season coming home with 1 win and a plethora of top 5 finishes! We thank all of our sponsors, crew and fans for all of their support and enjoy the offseason! Stay tuned for news for 2021.
Long Oktoberfest 2020 weekend concludes for the 80 car and Team RFR!
10-12-20: The 80 team headed out to the LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway this past weekend for the 51st Annual OktoberFest race weekend! Friday was a lot of practice starting early in the morning and then running the Trickle 99 segmented race that evening. Ryan just missed making the 15 car field on time after qualifying 18th, so we had to race our way in through a 12 lap qualifying heat. Ryan started P3 in the heat and needed to finished in the top 2 to advance. He finished 2nd behind Nick Murgic to move to the feature event! Segment 1: Started- P21 Finished- P12; Segment 2: Started- P20 Finished- P18; Segment 3: Started- P2 Finished- P11. Saturday was a practice, qualify and heat racing day for the 200 lap ARCA Midwest Tour race on Sunday. We qualified into the show at P9 and finished our heat in P4. Sunday was a long race and we ended up finishing P18 as the car was just too tight most the day.
The 80 Team Finishes 3rd at the Harvest 100 at Golden Sands Speedway!
10-3-2020: After qualifying 2nd, the 80 started 7th in the Heat race and Ryan worked his way up to 3rd in the 12 lap race. Ryan started 10th in the 100 lap main event and was very patient early behind some traffic, working his way up to 7th by lap 25. The car was a bit tight, but Ryan rode around and got up to 6th with 17 to go. A caution came out and Ryan took the high side to start 2nd row outside and powered his way to 2nd behind Justin Mondiek with 15 to go. Jordan Devoy got around us and went on to win, with Ryan finishing a very solid P3!
The RFR team now makes its way to LaCrosse Speedway to race at the legendary Oktoberfest Race Weekend. We will be running the Trickle 99 Friday night and then the ARCA Midwest Tour 200 lap race Sunday!
Thanks again to all of our sponsors, team, and the thousands of fans we met so far throughout the season!
NEWS: 10-8-20: 1 race remaining in the Alive for 5 Series & the 80 leads the points!
With one race remaining in the Alive for 5 series at Dells Raceway Park, the 80 car is leading the points over Casey Johnson and Gabe Sommers. The final race for this series (and of our season) is Saturday, October 24th at DRP for the Falloween 150. Come on out and cheer the 80 car on and dress warmly! See you all at the track!

NEWS (10-27-18): RFR Finishes 2018 With Another Win!
With the Falloween 150 @ Dells Raceway Park rained out, the season is over. 2018 officially ended with a $5000 win at Golden Sands Speedway!
This, the second win of the year for RFR solidifies what has been a breakout season. With a $5,000 pay day “The Harvest” easily jumps to the top of the list as the biggest win in RFR’s history going back to 2008!
At one point in the 100 lap event Ryan was stuck in 15th spot fighting to slowly move forward. With patience and a luck, Ryan found himself in 6th when the first yellow came out with 29 to go. At that point two of the top-5 cars were involved in the yellow, allowing Ryan to jump to 4th. With the top three all choosing the bottom, Ryan jumped to the front row and stole the lead on the ensuing restart from 2018 ARCA Tour champ Dalton Zehr.
Following a long and detailed tech inspection, the #80 was officially the winner! This race marks the last time the team will make the long trip from Golden Sands Speedway back home to Big Bend for the 2018 season, but they will certainly be looking forward to the first races there in April of 2019!
(9-22-18) - RFR Finishes Tied for 2nd Overall at TUNDRA Twin 55 Lap Features at Dells Raceway Park!
The 80 team qualified 5th out of 28 cars competing, and finished 3rd in the first 55 lap race and 4th in the second race. That put them in a tie with Carson Kvapil for 2nd overall in the event. Casey Johnson won the overall!
Ryan and the team did their best to not make too many adjustments to a car that had been on a rail two weeks earlier at the WCS 75 at the Dells, and fortunately after only a few tweaks the team was able to find the same speed. During the first feature the car was on the loose side which made it difficult to run down eventual feature 1 winner Mike Lichtfield (#44).
After adjustments the car was a little too snug early on in the second feature, but by the end of the race the #80 was turning laps faster than anyone - they just needed a little more time to challenge Casey Johnson (#5) for the overall win. Unfortunately things didn’t work out and the team had to settle for 4th in race #2 and in a tie for 2nd overall. The #80 will be back on October 13th at Golden Sands Speedway for the $5,000 to win “Harvest”!
(9-8-18) - 2018 WISCONSIN CHALLENGE SERIES CHAMPIONS!!!
The RFR #80 team learned from mistakes made at the ARCA Tour Race and put in a dominating performance at the final Wisconsin Challenge Series race at Dells Raceway Park! After qualifying 2nd overall, in only 10 laps Ryan raced his way from 9th starting spot up to 3rd in the qualifying heat, essentially giving him a 3rd place starting spot for the main event.
At that point in the night it was apparent the handling was superb on the car. After patiently riding in 2nd spot for the first part of the 75 lap feature with 36 laps to go Ryan nabbed the lead and never looked back - at one point leading by nearly half a lap!
With dozens of friends and family in the stands it was especially sweet to get their first super late model win and championship in the same night! Up next Ryan and the team will be running with the TUNDRA Series at Dells Raceway Park on Sunday, September 23rd. Races start at 2pm!
(9-1-18) - #80 Team Spends Labor Day Trying to Figure Out What Went Wrong at Dells Raceway Park!
Coming off a career highlight 3rd place finish for the ARCAMT Dairyland 100 at Plover, the 80 team felt good about their chances at Dells Raceway Park for the ARCAMT Escape to Wisconsin 100. While the team did manage to qualify into the show on time, the 16th place effort wasn't enough to cement a starting spot in the invert.
As the race unfolded the car just wasn't handling right for Ryan as he settled in around 20th early on in the event. Eventually the car came around and was able to sneak back into the top 15 until finally going a lap down. The long run speed stayed good as Ryan followed the leaders around until late in the race. Unfortunately the caution he needed never came out.
On Monday the team tore through the car and previous notes from past races at Dells Raceway Park in order to figure out where the deficiencies were. It should be an interesting Wisconsin Challenge Series championship night on Saturday, Sept. 8th - make sure you are in attendance. The team has a four point lead on Travis Sauter with a handful of drivers within striking distance!
It wasn't a great day race wise, but at least Justin smiled, Uncle Randy brought cake (Happy Birthday!), and some kids got autographs and candy!
(8-18-18) - It Wasn't a Win, but it Wasn't Too Bad - 3rd at the ARCA MT Dairyland 100!
After qualifying 19th out of 26 competitors, it seemed like the team had a tough hill to climb, but with some patience and some perfect setup adjustments, the car and driver charged through the field for a 3rd place finish in the ARCA Midwest Tour event at Golden Sands Speedway.
The finish was the fifth top five of the season for the Lingford Construction #80 team, and possibly their most impressive run yet! With a potential off weekend coming for the team, it's time to pour through the notes and see if they can find a little more speed for the ARCAMT Escape to Wisconsin 100 on September 1st at Dells Raceway Park!
(8-11-18) - 9th at Marshfield - Narrow WCS Point Lead Still Intact!
Although there was nothing easy about the run the #80 team had at Marshfield Speedway, after the dust settled the team still holds the lead heading into the finale for the Wisconsin Challenge Series at Dells Raceway Park.
The car was struggling for rear grip in long runs - a sign that the team missed the balance. Unfortunately there was only one caution to cool the tires, which worked against them considering the car was much more competitive at the start of the race and just after the lone caution.
UP NEXT: Wisconsin Challenge Series Race #3 - Marshfield Motor Speedway - Marshfield, WI
With more than a handful of teams within striking distance, this third event of the four race challenge series could be the one that has the greatest effect on the outcome. While it's nice to hold a point lead, Ryan has never competed at Marshfield Speedway! The only other track in Wisconsin Ryan hasn't raced at is Tomah Speedway, which recently reopened and isn't on any super late model touring schedules.
Two things stand out about this race - first off it's the only half mile on the WCS schedule, and secondly it's a very long race at 75 laps. Typical half mile races run 50 laps or less, with a few major exceptions on the ARCA Midwest Tour schedule.
Pit gates open at 3:30, Time Trials at 6, and racing at 7pm!
7 - 30 - 18 The #80 Team Finishes July Out on a Roll!
A 4th place come from behind run at the Larry Detjens Memorial 100 at Wausau makes it four top five finishes in the last five races for the Lingford Construction & Transport / Jackson Distribution and Warehouse #80!
On top of another solid run, Ryan got his first fast time in a super late model, which was nice because he can just wave the fast time flag next time someone (usually Justin) questions his qualifying ability!
7 - 14 -18 ARCA Tour Rainout Turns Into Another Top 3 Finish at the Dells' Dairyland 100!
The ARCA Midwest Tour event scheduled for Saturday July, 14th at Grundy was cancelled just in time for the #80 Lingford Construction team to avoid paying any Illinois tolls en route to Morris, Illinois.
Upon hearing the news that the ARCA race was cancelled Justin pulled a big U - turn and headed north with the hauler towards Dells Raceway Park. After some frantic work to adjust for the rules differences between the two sanctioning bodies, the car was ready just in time for first practice.
The car was solid out of the box and very little had to be done to help the handling. Once qualifying rolled around the #80 ended up 5th out of 26 cars in a very strong field.
In the feature event Ryan patiently ran in the back half of the top ten until opportunities opened up and suddenly with 30 to go there he was in 2nd! Unfortunately 4 yellows in the final 30 laps derailed what was a phenomenal long run setup, and on the final restart Ryan elected to go low on the cone in a risky move to try to win the race. The move didn't pan out and Ryan ended up bringing the #80 home in a very strong 3rd place - possibly the best run of the year considering the competition level that day!
Up next is the Larry Detjens Memorial race on Saturday July, 28th at State Park Speedway in Wausau, WI.
7 - 10 - 18 RFR Looks to Rebound After a Rough Outing at the Slinger Nationals
In arguably the most competitive race in the country this month, the #80 Lingford Construction Chevy struggled mightily with handling issues. The team chose not to test at the high banked track, which ended up being a bit of an issue as the team worked their tails off to make adjustments in each raceday practice.
Unfortunately the setup was just too far off to sort out in one day, and they only could muster 29th out of 35 cars in qualifying. In the qualifying race, Ryan managed to miss a 5 car pileup and sneak into a decent position in hopes of transferring in. Unfortunately those hopes were dashed when the RF went flat under the ensuing caution.
Sometimes those things happen. I guess you could say it was sort of a "Huge, Embarrassing, Failure", but hey at least we didn't get wrecked!
The team will look to represent Wisconsin well at the next ARCA Midwest Tour event at Grundy County Speedway on Saturday, July 14th in Morris, Illinois. Here's to doing Wisconsin proud!
7 - 6 - 18 UP NEXT: The 39th Slinger Nationals (Tuesday July, 10th @ Slinger Super Speedway)
Arguably the biggest race in the Midwest this summer - the Slinger Nationals - is looming large over the team this weekend. Although the car has been stout at virtually every race this season, Slinger provides the biggest challenge yet!
With nearly 20 degrees of banking the entire setup of the car needs to be reconsidered to account for the downforce and speeds at Slinger. Ryan will also be racing as a replacement driver for Bobby Gutknecht at Slinger on Sunday July, 8th in the Midwest Sportsman division. It will be fun to run a Mid-Am style car for the first time in nearly 6 years!
7 - 4 - 18 Finished 2nd on the 4th at Golden Sands
On Wednesday the #80 Lingford Construction & Transport Chevy SS was at Golden Sands Speedway in Plover, WI for race #2 of the Wisconsin Challenge Series. The race was a makeup for the rainout that happened in June. The car was a handful in practice with less than ideal practice tires and a warm humid day.
The team made the right setup calls and the car proved to be outstanding in a long run. After getting to 2nd place just before halfway, the eventual winner Mike Lichtfield had already checked out to a huge lead. By the end the #80 had chopped it down to less than a straightaway, but time ran out!
This was the second 2nd place finish in a row for the team, and was enough to put the #80 atop the WCS point standings with 2 races remaining. The next WCS race is at Marshfield Speedway on August 11th.
6-29-18 Best Finish of the Year! 2nd at Wausau
After qualifying in a tie for 6th, the #80 Lingford Construction & Transport Chevy S.S. finished a strong 2nd in a feature that went all 75 laps with no cautions. After starting in 6th the car had great long run speed and was able to pass for 2nd around 20 laps into the race and slowly close the gap on the leader in the following laps. Unfortunately Luke Fenhaus's #4 car was also strong and was able to hold his lead while flawlessly navigating lapped traffic.
Overall it was an outstanding day that sets the team up well in the WCS points standings. The next event is July 4th at Golden Sands Speedway in Plover, WI.

6-15-18 Rainout......Golden Sands Speedway (Plover, WI)
On Friday June 15 the 80 car was at Golden Sands Speedway for the first Wisconsin Challenge Series Race. Unfortunately rain cut the event short just after qualifying. According to the stopwatch the car was even better than the first time there. The race is rescheduled for Wednesday Jully 4th, which leaves us in a tough position with respect to what races we will run that week. June 28 (Wausau), 30th (Rockford), July 4th (Plover), and July 6th(Madison) are all possible race dates. Not long after that there's an ARCA Midwest Tour race at Grundy County Speedway (Morris, Illinois) on July 14th we are planning on running.
6-10-18 Two Rough Outings at Madison, and One Great Run at Jefferson
Let's get the bad news out of the way quick. We attempted two races at Madison International Speedway in the last month. A motor issue derailed the first attempt, and then in the second race we suffered two flat tires in one feature - ouch.
Aside from that a solid run at Jefferson (ARCA Midwest Tour - 100 laps) made all the bad luck feel a little better. After leading laps and running a solid top 3 most of the race a brake issue popped up with 40 laps to go forcing the #80 team to settle for a 6th place finish. The brake issue is fixed and we are heading back to Plover on Friday, June 15th for the Wisconsin Challenge Series 75 lapper!
4-28-2018 Number Change and Race #1 at Golden Sands Speedway (Plover, WI)
The car finally made it's debut! After a disappointing 7th place in qualifying, the #80 car drove right to the front in the qualifying race and proceed to dominate the first 40 laps of the 100 lap feature.
Unfortunately a driveshaft issue caused a vibration that eventually put us out of the race. It was great to have that much speed the first time out! Look for the team at Madison International Speedway on Sunday, May 6th.
1-12-2018 Fresh Paint (Powdercoat)
From here all the parts and pieces can be assembled for the final time. This is the fun part!
9-5-2017
After assessing all options for 2017 the team has decided it is best to use this season as a way to regroup and build towards 2018. At this time RFR is seeking advertising partners for 2018 and making progress on a new racecar. The plan is to run various super late model events in 2018 throughout the state of Wisconsin and potentially committing to one of the super late model touring series that run throughout the summer.
In the meantime RFR has added new crew members and associates to help further the depth of knowledge and resources available in the future. Look for more on that as 2018 draws nearer.
7-14-2017
The 89 team is currently building a new chassis and is delaying the start of the race season. Originally the plan was another full season of competition, but some unforeseen circumstances are getting in the way of that goal. Look for more updates later in the summer.
